Emax : Latest generation downlight, surface and pendant collection

The modern commercial projects downlight needs to be versatile, able to meet the varying lighting needs of the workspace, but also able to be installed to suit installation conditions and aesthetic requirements.

Intralux’s Emax offers exactly this. It can be installed as a downlight, a surface mounted downlight or pendant.

The same downlight performance and characteristics are then available as surface or pendant solutions, creating installation options to suit design and ceiling type needs.

Emax takes a simplified approach, offering a comprehensive range of lumen packages, beam angles and finishes at a common price for the downlight, surface or suspended models. Price only then varies depending upon lighting control requirements, whether non-dimmable, 1-10V, DALI and Push, or Casambi controlled.

This helps both designer and contractor, as Emax can then be specified throughout a project (based upon consistent lighting controls throughout) at a common price. For example, the 3500K 18W model with 55° optic and white texture finish is the same cost as the 3500K 10W model with 27° optic and bronze texture finish.

This makes it easy to change the lighting design or select a different finish, as there is no cost implication. Simply count the number of Emax downlights using the same lighting control and cost is the same. The same is true of the surface or suspended models.

Intralux Emax finishes; Bronze textured, Metallic gold, White textured, Black textured and Metallic silver.

An additional advantage of the four available wattages is with circuit design, board sizing and Greenstar (or equivalent) rating. Designing with the four available wattages (or lumen packages) the design can be fully optimised. Dimming an over specified 18W fitting to 40% output still requires the circuit designed to 18W load, with Greenstar points associated with this. But, using the matching 7W fitting reduces circuit load and maximises Greenstar points. These are cost neutral design changes, whether increasing or decreasing the performance, making it easy and worthwhile to optimise the design.

Emax is IP44 rated from below, and IP20 elsewhere, making it suitable for interior wet areas subject to slashing and requiring an IPX4 rated solution.

Emax Downlight maintains a common diameter, and in the case of the downlight an extraordinarily shallow height of 52mm!

One diameter throughout fixes the aesthetic throughout the project. No mismatching downlight diameters and trim designs. A uniform and common form throughout. Perfect!

But also one hole size cut out! No risks of cutting the incorrect hole, and a quicker installation.

With a height of only 52mm, ceiling void heights can be minimal, and conflicts or competition for height with other services is reduced.

Emax Wallwasher Downlight

No downlight family would be complete without a performance wallwasher, which Emax Wallwasher Downlight does in the same diameter and depth as its downlight family member.

Key to performance is a lensed optic able to light from the very top to the very bottom of the wall with high uniformity, and without significant light onto the floor. The optical characteristics enable the fitting to be positioned close to the wall, removing it from sight lines while ensuring a very good lit effect onto the vertical surface.

Emax Surface Mounted Downlight

The Emax Surface Mounted Downlight enables a surface mounted approach, having the same features as the downlight in a surface mounted solution either 250mm, 400mm or 600mm high.

The driver is integral to the fitting, making this a great solution when a surface mounted downlight approach is wanted, either for a visual aesthetic, or for acoustic or fire rated ceilings.

Emax Suspended Downlight

Taking one step further, the Emax Suspended Downlight creates a suspended solution, supplied with 2m clear flex suspension and colour matched ceiling rose.

Standard colour temperatures are 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K, with 3500K offering a really nice halfway house colour temperature that brings both human warmth and cooler crispness offered by the two neighbouring packages.

With CIE Ra of 90+ and CIE R9 of 50+, colours are always rendered well, helping reveal them naturally. Full R1 to R15 data is also provided, with R13 skin tone being fantastically high, along with R10, R11 and R12 to ensure saturated colours are rendered well.

Emax finishes complete the story, with (WT) White Texture, (BT) Black Texture, BRT) Bronze Texture, (MS) Metallic Silver and (MG) Metallic Gold finishes available.
