Chapman Tripp’s newly fitted outed offices in Wellington utilises two extremely flexible and scalable solutions from Light Black’s ranges.
Architects Studio Pacific Architecture has done a fantastic job of creating a light and airy space, utilizing a range of finishes to create a visually appealing outcome.
Switch Lighting Design used two core solutions from Light Black, Linex and Luminet, respecting the architect’s vision by using grazing, highlighting and general lighting approaches throughout the two-story space centred around the stair core.

In the above image, Luminet grazers down the feature wall on the left using a 30° optic to provide good vertical illuminance. Luminet is available in a range of optics from 15° to 90°, with CCT from 2000K to 5700K, Tuneable White (2700 to 5700K) and RGBW. Luminet comes in a range of standard lengths, as well as custom, which were used throughout Chapman Tripp to match the architectural details and lighting design requirements.

LineX is used throughout the space to provide a flexible solution based around a 48V magnetic track system. Trimless Recessed Adjustable track is used throughout plasterboard ceilings, while High Track is fitted into a ceiling slot throughout the tiled ceilings.

Clipped into this are a range of Linear Louvred fittings with 35° optic for discrete low glare general lighting. Almost invisible, Linear Louvred fittings provide a hidden solution that delivers light for task and effect, while remaining discrete to help maximise the visual outcome and provide great visual comfort for Chapman Tripp.
Twin Round Spotlights in 18° and 45° are then used to highlight features, light walls and provide general architectural lighting, creating a fitout with character and a comfortable mood thanks to the lighting approach. All fittings have been accessorized with honeycomb louvres, ensuring the lighting effect takes dominance over the fittings.

The LineX system utilises a magnetic attachment system to enable quick and accurate installation of luminaires into the track, with a push button locking system used to then secure the fittings and protect against movement or drop out. This provides Chapman Tripp a safe and flexible solution for now and the future, able to be quickly and readily adapted to suit future changes.
Such a beautifully crafted space thanks to the work of Studio Pacific Architecture and Switch Lighting Design.
